Current mainstream medicine falls short when addressing these issues and we are often assured we are “healthy” or our “labs are normal”. What makes it worse is that it is difficult to wade through the information overload that is available to us in this modern age. I can help you fill in the gaps in your healthcare that mainstream medicine has left behind and can aid you in navigating through all of the information needed to regain your health. Bridget Mayer is an experienced physician assistant with a career spanning over 30 years in conventional medicine specializing in primary care and internal medicine. In the last five years, she started training in the field of functional medicine, gaining certification through the Institute of Functional Medicine. She has worked for Yale University caring for the University employees over the last 6 years. She is also currently working on an additional certification through The Functional Medicine Academy. She has always been passionate about teaching her patients wellness and prevention but finds it difficult to fully accomplish this in the conventional medicine model.
With the Functional Medicine model, she is able to spend the additional time needed to get to know her patients better and have them be more involved in the solutions, for more patient-centered care. Additionally, Functional Medicine gets to the root cause of health problems as opposed to treating symptoms which is so often done in conventional care. Beyond her professional pursuits, Bridget has diverse outside interests. Nature is a significant part of her life, with the enjoyment of hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and paddleboarding in the scenic Adirondacks. In addition, her creative outlet is making jewelry, and she has a commitment to organic gardening, cooking, and personal fitness, reflecting a holistic approach that extends to her personal life.
